Our Brand Story

13 years ago, I found myself separating from my career in child welfare. I was sad & restless. My job had me physically and mentally depleted. Being a Social Worker no longer held purpose for me. I found myself painting everything in my house. Color and change evoked a sense of hope in me.

For the next year, I worked 3 jobs and painted furniture on the side while trying to balance motherhood and a new design for living. My kids groaned every time I said "Can you please help me unload something?"

It was a crazy time in my life. Somewhere in there, I met my significant other, Danny. One day, he said, "why don't we make your own paint?" Lush Paint was born (in Ball jars) ! For the next 2 years, that's all we used. My business - painting furniture, selling paint, creating content, offering transfers and moulds - got too busy to continue making paint, so we pivoted to offering our customers and using many different brands.

But I DID build a business that has thrived for over a decade. From my garage hustle to a 3,000 sq ft brick & mortar, two successful e-commerce platforms, two amazing (now adult) children, three bonus adult children, and now grandchildren.

Over the last year, opportunities have aligned, and I was led back to making paint. For over a decade, I've created and nurtured relationships in the paint, arts, and DIY business community. I've been involved in curating paint lines, decor transfer lines, decor mould lines, and national & international supply chains.
Yesterday, Danny asked my "purpose" for Legacy Paints, and I thought long & hard.

My answer: I want to show the girls in my family that we can do hard things with integrity, compassion, and kindness, while still being successful. I want to leave them a legacy of hope, not fear.

Thank you so much for being here!
